Kildare Council Updates Public On Kerdiffstown Park Development

Kildare County Council has confirmed that the Kerdiffstown Park development is in its final stages, almost a year ahead of schedule.

Works began in November 2020 on the Kerdiffstown Landfill Remediation Project with a contract date for completion of construction set for April 2025.

The landfill construction is almost done, with final checks and adjustments happening on site. These tasks are expected to be completed in the next few weeks. Once that's done, Kildare County Council will take over running the park and managing the landfill from Wills Bros, the contractor. The Council can then carry out final preparations for the park to open to the public.


The multi-use public park will boast an array of amenities, including 3 full-size all-weather pitches, a playground, paths and walking trails and much more.

As a remediated landfill site, Kildare County Council has ongoing environmental management and monitoring systems in place, these will be part of the future management of the site, to ensure the protection of public health and the local environment.

Given the nature of the site, it is to be expected that further maintenance work will be required to the landfill and its infrastructure in the future, as the site ages. This will be managed by Kildare County Council in consultation with the EPA and in accordance with the EPA licence.
