Mivan Celebrates Apprentices At Annual Awards

Construction News Image
Mivan, the luxury fit out and bespoke joinery specialists, has celebrated the best performing Apprentices in the Navigate Programme at the Mivan Apprentice Awards.

The annual awards highlight achievement, development, improvement, and outstanding performance.

Awards categories include Special Recognition, Encouragement Award, Rising Star, Navigate Champion Award and probably the most sought after, the Outstanding Apprentice Award.

Each apprentice undergoes ongoing assessment throughout their apprenticeship, evaluating their technical skill, knowledge, learning capacity, ability to progress, and work ethic. This continual evaluation provides valuable insight to the judging panel, aiding them in determining who merits recognition.

Ethan McKenna, Charlie Fleck and Andrew Mackenzie, all 1st Year Apprentices, won the Special Recognition Award. Tom Gallagher and Jamie Matthews, 2nd Year Apprentices, also collected the award for their performance in the intercampus joinery competition. Ryan O’Boyle, 1st Year Apprentice and Jack Munro, 4th Year Apprentice achieved the Encouragement Award for their progress made throughout the year.

The Rising Star Award was won by Abbie Foster, 1st Year Apprentice, for her creation of a dovetail joint at the intercampus joinery competition, the best seen by one of the judges. Abbie said: "I did not think it was anything special, but my tutor, Adrian, told me he was going to keep it to show it to other apprentices as an excellent example. I was really chuffed and now to win he Rising Star Award is just fantastic."

Achieving the Overall Outstanding Apprentice Award for his excellent work and performance throughout the year, Conor Dallas has worked on three live projects onsite. He has completed work far beyond what his skill and competency level should be, despite only being in only his third year of apprenticeship. Conor also collected the Apprentice of the Year at the Construction News Specialist Awards last year so consistently reaches the highest levels possible.

Conor stated: "My progress at Mivan has been rapid. I really enjoy the work, the responsibility, and the ability to develop new skills every day. This is a massive driving force behind my progression. Thanks to Stephen Field and Jonny O’Boyle as without their guidance and support I would not have won this award."

Award winning mentor Charley McAuley won a Special Recognition Award for his outstanding mentorship to all 1st Year Apprentices. Charley's guidance is crucial for each apprentice's development. The one-on-one time spent with Charley builds a strong foundation for future growth.
