As this week is National Apprenticeship Week, the Housing Executive has recognised the vital role that apprentices play in its workforce.
Over the last ten years, 300 apprentices and graduates have been recruited by the Housing Executive across a variety of positions. The positions include housing services, plumbing, joinery, electrics, IT, project management and quantity surveying.
Head of Learning and Organisational Development at the Housing Executive, Sophie Irwin said:
"Apprentices play a vital role in our workforce. They bring enthusiasm, innovation and diverse experiences.
"They help us to build a committed and dedicated team from the ground up and bring their own unique life experiences to enhance our diverse and inclusive teams.
"Our apprentices are key to service delivery, working alongside mentors and experienced staff to ensure timely and first-class customer service.
"In 2023 59 entry-level roles joined us with a further 62 apprentices employed by contractors working on Housing Executive projects.
"As a result, we recently exceeded our three year target of 120 apprentices earlier than expected.
"There has never been a better time to consider an apprenticeship with us. We plan to offer a wide range of apprenticeships during 2024."
Those who join the Housing Executive's apprenticeship programmes have the opportunity to gain recognised qualifications whilst earning and accessing a range of career development options.
In the coming months the Housing Executive will announce details of the latest opportunities as well as showcasing the work of its apprentices, who come from a wide range of ages, backgrounds and educational achievement.
