CEF's Safety Reboot Initiative Set To Return

Construction News Image
The Construction Employers Federation (CEF) has announced that its health and safety initiative, Safety Reboot, will return in January 2024.

This initiative will encourage companies to stop work for about fifteen minutes weekly throughout January to take time to focus on key areas of health and safety. The CEF health and safety committee has decided to partner with organisations and initiatives to highlight mental health and workplace transport safety.

The existing Safety Reboot mental health resources have been amended and will now include references to The Lighthouse Club and the Building Mental Health Alliance. The Lighthouse Club is the only charity that is 100% dedicated to the emotional, physical and financial wellbeing of construction workers and their families. The Building Mental Health Alliance is a Northern Ireland construction industry initiative, aimed at creating better mental health for all in the sector.

Another week will focus on supporting the HSENI #drivedangerout campaign which has been updated and will promote this important topic throughout the industry.

There are another nine wide-ranging topics to choose from including working at height, slips, trips and falls, asbestos and temporary works to deliver during the other weeks in January.

Jonathan Caughey, Federation Manager at the CEF said: "With Safety Reboot returning for another year, it’s fantastic to have the Lighthouse Club, Building Mental Health Alliance and HSENI partnering with CEF to highlight two massively important issues to the construction industry. By collaborating, we can encourage construction contractors and their supply chain to take time to discuss these topics and learn more about the resources available from these partners. Whilst we are having two focused weeks this year, contractors are urged to make use of the resources on the other topics throughout January. It’s a great way to focus attention at the start of the year and I would encourage companies to get involved."
