A presentation on photovoltaic solar cell technology that was presented by three members of Engineers Ireland has been awarded the institution's Best Presentation Award.
Professor Stephen Goodnick from Arizona State University, Edward Duffy from Nines-PV and Professor Dermot Brabazon from Dublin City University received the Engineers Ireland award for delivering an outstanding technical presentation to member-engineers during the 2022-2023 lecture season.
The Best Presentation Award was co-sponsored by Beale & Co and Griffiths & Armour.
Professor Brabazon said: "I congratulate my partners in this presentation, Prof. Stephen Goodnick, of the leading solar cell research group in the US at Arizona State University, and Edward Duffy of Nines-Photovoltaics in Dublin who manufacture photovoltaic solar cell production equipment. Working together we provided an overview of where the state of the art is in this technology and the promising future that it holds for providing improved efficiencies and sustainability in the coming years, for green energy generation.
"I would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the work of the Mechanical & Manufacturing Division Committee in organising these events. Finally, I give a personal note of thanks to Máirín Ní Aonghusa and Sinead Quinn-Phillips at Engineers Ireland who have supported in such an excellent manner Engineers Ireland Sector events and their management."
