Lisnaskea Household Recycling Centre Reopens

Construction News Image
Fermanagh and Omagh District Council have officially reopened Lisnaskea Household Recycling Centre.

The £1.1 million redevelopment project has increased storage capacity and better separation and sorting of recyclable materials. The project has also contributed directly and indirectly to reduced carbon emissions and the Council's ambition of a net zero District by 2042.

The installation of better signage, enhanced separation and a one-way system will help to improve the health, safety and wellbeing of staff and the public using the facility.

Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Thomas O'Reilly, said: "I am delighted that Lisnaskea Household Recycling Centre has reopened following significant improvement works and I would like to thank the residents in the area for their patience and understanding during the closure period to enable the works to be completed.

"It is important that the Council invests in its recycling facilities to ensure appropriate facilities are available and accessible for residents to help to encourage recycling and improve our recycling rates.

"The Council is working towards the ambitious recycling targets set by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs, and within the 2022 Climate Act, but we can only do that if we all play our part and recycle right."
