NI construction firm, GRAHAM has scooped a Green Apple Award 2023 for its South Bank Technical College development in London.
Funded by the Mayor of London, the new South Bank Technical College was completed in January 2023 as a Single Stage Design & Build Contract within the PAGABO Major Works Framework.
The project was jointly designed by Architecture PLB and Rock Townsend Architects, and delivered by GRAHAM.
After extensive collaboration and engagement with stakeholders, the new Technical College is an education-led environment which aims to inspire students, respond to employers' skills shortages, meet staff requirements and adapt to the curricula of the future.
South Bank Colleges, part of the LSBU group, is the largest provider of skills training for young people and adults in the London Borough of Lambeth and is a large employer within the Borough.
Peter Marsh, Project Director at Peter Marsh Consulting, the Employers Agent and Contract Administrator, said: "We have worked with South Bank Colleges Group through the merger of Lambeth College and LSBU and were delighted that GRAHAM were appointed in January 2021 to deliver this landmark building. The project has been delivered over one of the most challenging periods in the construction industry with COVID, impacts on the supply chain arising from the war in Ukraine and inflationary pressures. The creation of the first new Technical College in London for a generation by GRAHAM and the wider team has only happened through the combined efforts of all involved – managing conflict and design issues in an open and collaborative manner to deliver a world class further education facility in Lambeth."
