The improvement works will see the replacement of more than one kilometre of old water mains susceptible to leakage along the R483 from the T-junction at Kilmacduane West until the Old Parochial House Cottages.
New water service connections from the public water main in the road to customer property boundaries will also be installed.
The works are part of Uisce Éireann's commitment to drive down leakage and improve the water supply to homes and businesses.

Uisce Éireann’s Programme Manager, Kevin Murphy, said: "Carrying out these works under the National Leakage Reduction Programme will greatly benefit the community. This section of water mains was prioritised for investment and replacement by Uisce Éireann due to its age and deteriorating condition, resulting in supply interruptions to homes and businesses. When completed, this project will improve water quality, significantly reduce leakage and provide local residents with a sustainable and more reliable water supply for generations to come.

The project will be completed by December 2023.
