Weev Installs First Rapid EV Charging Station In Armagh

Construction News Image
Weev has installed the first ultra-rapid electric vehicle (EV) charging station in County Armagh.

The 150kw, EV charging station is located at family-owned supermarket, McAnerney's, in Armagh city centre.

The charging hub can accommodate two vehicles at once, with high speeds allowing EVs to fully charge in a matter of minutes.

This is the latest installation in Weev's multi-million pound investment programme which will see thousands of charging points installed over the coming years.

Thomas O’Hagan, Chief Commercial Officer, Weev, said: "We're pleased to complete the installation of not only the fastest EV public charging device in Armagh but the first ultra-rapid station anywhere in the county.

"We believe this is a major step towards supporting the adoption of EVs in the area, previously underserved in regards to charging infrastructure, in turn helping to create a cleaner, greener future for us all.

"McAnerney’s is exceptionally well known in Armagh city and beyond with a convenient forecourt situated on a busy route that made them the perfect location partner for us."

Aidan McAnerney, Managing Director, McAnerney's, stated: "Having noticed an increasing number of customers driving electric vehicles, we are proud to be a part of the next stage of evolution in EVs by offering them a new charging solution.

"They, along with sales representatives that have moved to electric fleets say they love the convenience of being able to charge their vehicle while they visit our supermarket.

"We believe that this new charging station will benefit our customers and encourage more people to switch to EVs for the first time."
