SPA Wins Two Awards For Carbon Reduction Initiative

Anglian Water Services' Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) has won two national awards for its carbon reduction initiative.

The company scooped the Carbon Reduction Award at the National Sustainability Awards and the Carbon Net Zero Initiative of the Year at the British Construction Industry Awards.

Both of the awards recognised SPA's disruptive carbon approach in optimising the project's design. The project is on track to reach an industry-leading capital carbon reduction of 65 per cent whilst ensuring the outcomes aren't compromised.


SPA is an alliance of Anglian Water Services (AW), Farrans Construction, Mott MacDonald Bentley (MMB), Costain Group PLC and Jacobs who are contracted to deliver one of the largest infrastructure projects in the UK.

By constructing a series of interconnected pipelines, Anglian Water will be able to move water from areas with a surplus to areas which are in deficit. This will make the east of England resilient to drought and securing water supplies for future generations.
