Egis Road and Tunnel Operations (ERTO) has partnered with Peacock Engineering Ltd to move its asset management systems for the Dublin and Jack-Lynch Tunnels to the cloud.
The partnership is part of a three-year deal which will see ERTO move its existing asset management solution, IBM Maximo®, to a new cloud-based version, IBM Maximo Application Suite (MAS).
MAS offers a single platform for intelligent asset management, monitoring, maintenance, computer vision, safety and reliability Which will enable ERTO to have a 360-degree, real time view of its asset base, across multiple sites at the same time.
This move will enable increased asset uptime and improved first-time-fix rates and operational efficiencies, digitised work orders and the ability to store data on and offline. The cloud-based system will also help to negate out-dated paper-based processes, helping to remove duplication and reduce human error.
ERTO is responsible for the management of toll collection, traffic management, tunnel safety management, emergency and contingency planning, equipment and infrastructure inspection and maintenance systems in the Dublin and Jack-Lynch tunnels.
The Dublin tunnel is a 4.85 kilometre long twin bore dual carriageway that caters for an estimated 65 million vehicle journeys a year. The 1.8 kilometre Jack-Lynch tunnel, which services Cork, carries on average 25 million journeys annually.
Matt Deadman, Chief Operations Officer at Peacock Engineering, said: "We're thrilled to be working with ERTO over the next three years. Moving the operations process and systems for the Dublin and Jack-Lynch Tunnels to the forefront of Asset Management delivery will enable ERTO to leverage the full capabilities of IBM's market leading EAM solution. Providing granular views of both tunnels will help them to carry out maintenance even more efficiently, while also helping to reduce the disruption to those using these vital routes to navigate around Dublin and Cork."
