NI Water has announced a programme of pipelaying works for a new housing development off the A55 Knock Road in Belfast will get underway on Saturday, 05 August.
The work will involve the laying of new sewers and construction of manholes between the junction of Glen Road and the new housing development at 150 Knock Road.
Ian O'Hare, NI Water Project Manager said: "New wastewater infrastructure is required to support 52 new units at 150 Knock Road, Belfast. NI Water and our project team from Atkins and AG Wilson have been liaising closely with the Department for Infrastructure to try to minimise the impact of these works on residents, businesses and road users.
"To carry out the work as safely as possible, it will be necessary to have a temporary lane closure in place on the Knock Road between Ascot Park and Glen Road. Traffic management will be in place to maintain the flow of traffic. With traffic being down to one lane between these junctions, we would advise the public to allow more time for their journeys.
"In a bid to complete the work as quickly as possible, our contractor AG Wilson will work 7am-7pm, 7 days a week. Work will commence at the Glen Road junction on Saturday 5th August. Vehicle and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times and every effort will be made to complete the work at the Glen Road junction by Monday 7th August. We expect all works to be completed by Friday 18th August.
"A number of variable message signs have been erected in the area to inform the travelling public and updates will be issued via social media. NI Water and our project team greatly appreciate the patience and cooperation of local residents, businesses and road users while we carry out this essential work to facilitate housing development in the east Belfast area."
