Plans to develop a new Health & Wellbeing Hub in Warrenpoint, Co Down, have been submitted.

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council plans to build a new two-storey community hub building at Clonallon Park to include a four-court hall, changing areas, meeting rooms and activity rooms. The development incorporates features such as a Sensory Room, Children's Activity Room with outdoor terrace, music room and dance studio. A kitchen area, office space and break-out space also form part of the plans.

Externally, the proposals aim to improve the existing user experience, with dedicated wet/dry changing facilities provided to serve the established sports pitches. Further enhancement includes new pathways connecting to the existing pedestrian network, an attractive new Health and Wellbeing Garden, hard and soft landscaped areas, street furniture and cycle and car parking facilities.

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Cllr Valarie Harte, said: "I am delighted to learn that a planning application has made for the much anticipated Health & Wellbeing Hub in Warrenpoint. This is an important milestone in the project, and I look forward to seeing these plans come to life.

"I would like to thank everyone involved in getting the project to this stage and especially recognise the dedicated ongoing work of the local community.

"One of the Council's key aims is to provide high quality community facilities and the development of this new centre will create important health and wellbeing opportunities for the people of Warrenpoint and surrounding areas."

It is expected the new facility will require an investment of £7.1m and will be delivered by December 2025.
