Coffey Construction is working on behalf of Uisce Éireann to progress the Celbridge Local Sewer Network Reinforcement Project.
The delivery of this essential wastewater project will support future economic growth and development, improve the existing sewer network for residents, and protect the environment by reducing the risk of sewer overflows into the River Liffey.
Since the works commenced in July 2022 nearly 5km of the upgrade work on the Dublin Road (R403) has been completed, and it is expected that all works will be completed by the end of September of this year.
The phase of essential works will involve the final installation of a new rising main sewer pipeline along the R403 (Dublin Road), from the junction of Young’s Cross to the Lucan Road Roundabout.
To minimise the impact of the project on local commuters and complete the works as efficiently as possible, two separate weekend road closures in July have been granted by Kildare County Council. Road closures will be in operation from late evening Friday, 7 July until the early morning of the Monday, 10 July and again late evening of Friday, 14 July until the early morning of Monday, 17 July.
Diversion routes will be in operation during this period and a map illustrating the road closure area and associated diversion routes can be found attached. Emergency traffic and access for residents will be maintained at all times.
Padraig Hanly, Regional Delivery Lead at Uisce Éireann said: "Working with our colleagues in Kildare and South Dublin County Councils, we are very happy that so much progress has been made on this vital project. A sewer network that is fit for purpose is essential in order to support business and social development in the community. Not only will these works support existing and future residential and commercial development, but they will also improve the overall performance of the sewer network."
