Cavan County Council Invests In Road Network

Construction News Image
Cavan's fleet of vehicles on the local road network has been strengthened with two new additions.

The new Roadmaster patcher machines were procured from Leitrim-based Archway Products at a combined investment of €670,000 including VAT.

They are currently being deployed on three-week rotation throughout the county's three municipal districts.

The high velocity spray injection patching machines are fast, safe, and efficient, can complete hundreds of metres of repair work in a single shift, and can be used for a variety of treatments including pre-surface dress work, pothole repair, intricate repairs, preventative maintenance, and edge repair.

Cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council, Councillor John Paul Feeley said: "I welcome the deployment of these impressive machines to the Cavan road network. A combination of late, severe winter frosts and warmer, wetter summers has resulted in significant deterioration of some road surfaces, and this welcome investment by the Council and the Department of Transport will go some way towards restoring a quality road surface motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians alike."

Director of Services for Transportation, Environment, Water Services, and Climate Action. Paddy Connaughton added: "Cavan County Council received a grant of €100,000 from the Department of Transport towards the units, with the remainder of the financing coming from the council's own resources, a significant investment in the maintenance of the county's road infrastructure."
