A new social housing development comprising 14 newly built two bedroom bungalows has been launched in Ardee, Co Louth.
Designed for the needs of older people, and people with disabilities, the A rated BER homes at Cúirt na gCloch, Stoney Lane, feature level access showers and are fitted with air to heat pumps.
A number of the units have also been allocated under the Safe Home Ireland programme, which assists older Irish born emigrants in returning home to secure accommodation in Ireland.
Additional facilities include the installation of two EV charging points within the development.
The housing units were recently acquired from Darra Bridge Housing Ltd. following a Turnkey Expression of Interest call for 2022, and Louth County Council has secured the properties which are ready for allocation to tenants from the social housing list in the coming days.
Paddy Donnelly, Director of Services, Social Development, at Louth County Council, said: "I am pleased this fine development has been completed and is now ready for occupation by tenants from the approved housing list. Tenants will be delighted with these homes which have been finished to the highest standard."
Speaking as she visited the houses at Cúirt na gCloch, Joan Martin, Chief Executive of Louth County Council, added: "County Louth has been given a very ambitious social housing targets under the government's Housing For All strategy. The council will use every method available, including Louth County Council own build, Turnkeys, Part V units and houses from Approved Housing Bodies."
