Swinford Residents To Secure More Reliable Water Supply

Homes and businesses in the County Mayo town of Swinford are set to benefit from a new and improved water supply.

Uisce Éireann will deploy crews in the coming weeks to replace more than 2.5km of old water mains which are susceptible to regular bursts. The new pipes along Davitt Place, Park Road, Kiltimagh Road, Chapel Street and Market Street will put a stop to outages and leakage and give customers much more confidence in their water supply.


Farrans Construction will carry out the works on behalf of Uisce Éireann with a completion date this summer. 

Traffic lights will be in operation during the course of the project, but the areas of work will be limited to short sections to minimise impact. Locals can be assured that local and emergency traffic will be accommodated at all times. 

The essential works may involve some short-term water interruptions, but the project team will ensure that customers are given a minimum of 48 hours' notice prior to any planned interruptions.
