A range of experts are set to descend on Belfast for the All-Ireland Sustainability Summit next month.

Delivered in partnership with Geological Survey of Northern Ireland, the event will be held on Thursday 09 March in the Europa Hotel. NIE Networks is serving as a sponsor for the event.

Over 200 attendees from a variety of sectors are expected to attend to hear from sustainability experts and peers, with themes covering help for organisations to progress on their sustainability journeys, accessing the support needed to make change, and sharing best practice when it comes to 'going green'.

Speaking at the launch of the All-Ireland Sustainability Summit, founder of the event, Danielle McCormick, said: "The sustainability and net-zero agenda is firmly on the business radar. We have an opportunity to drive and accelerate positive change, and we want to take individuals and organisations step up and meet the challenge.

"In industry sustainability refers to doing business without negatively affecting the environment, community or society as a whole, and its clear that sustainability can help drive business success, as well as create positive outcomes for the environment both locally and globally. I am personally delighted to welcome our headline partner, the Geological Survey of Northern Ireland, and all our key sponsors including Danske, NIE Networks and International Synergies NI, in this year's event."

Judy McElroy, Sustainability and Environment Manager, with NIE Networks commented: "We're committed to delivering a sustainable energy system for all, including behaving sustainably in our own practices. As part of that, it's important we take the opportunity to share ideas with industry and work together where possible to demonstrate that organisations like NIE Networks and its employees, can make a difference to local communities and the environment.

"This builds on our work as members of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change 'Race to Zero' campaign. The global campaign mobilises a coalition of leading net zero initiatives. We're really looking forward to the summit and hope that it can produce ideas and initiatives that make a lasting impact both here and across the world."

The summit will run from 9am to 5pm and aims to provide tangible opportunities for organisations to address the increasing value, and importance of the sustainability agenda at a time of growing customer demand, an increasing legislative schedule and rising operational costs.
