A series of key roadworks have been announced in the County Armagh village of Loughgilly.
Work will begin along the A28 Armagh Road on Monday 13 February and is expected to run until Sunday 26 March. These works are progressing following the completion of advance drainage works in December 2022.
This second phase of improvement work will extend from 100 metres north of the Killycarn Road junction to 200 metres south of the Ballyvally Road junction.
To help ensure the safety of those using the road and to facilitate the works, it will be necessary to operate a daily lane closure, Monday to Friday, under traffic signal control, from 8am to 6pm commencing on Monday 13 February 2023 and then reverting to 9:30am to 6pm from Monday 20 February until Friday 31 March 2023. Overnight lane closures will also take place from 7pm – 6am from Monday 13 March until Saturday 18 March. It will also be necessary to implement a full road closure on the weekends of 11-12 and 25-26 March 2023 from 8am Saturday to 7pm Sunday.
Traffic travelling toward Newry (Southbound) will be diverted via the B133 Bessbrook Road, Mountnorris, Bessbrook and A25 Camlough Road, with traffic travelling towards Armagh (Northbound) via the A28 Gosford Road, Poyntzpass, Tandragee and Markethill.
Road users are advised to allow extra time for their journey as delays are likely in the area and to also note a 40mph speed restriction will be in place for the duration of the works.
