Path Improvements Delivered Across Antrim

A series of vital path improvements have been completed across County Antrim.

The path at Rea's Wood has now been fully resurfaced making it more accessible for walkers, runners or wheelchair users and buggies. A second viewing point and new benches have also been installed for visitors to enjoy the views of Lough Neagh and the rich diversity of wildlife.

A new 160m bitmac path has also been created to improve access and connect Muckamore to the Mill Race Trail via the Oldstone Road. A new footbridge was installed as part of this upgrade.


The Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Alderman Stephen Ross commented: "These new path improvements will encourage more people to walk rather than use their car, and that means less traffic on our roads and less pollution in our towns.


"The cleaner and smoother paths also mean you don't need to wear your muddy boots to take the dog for a walk. So why not wrap up well, get out and about and discover where our paths may take you this winter."


This investment was funded through Department for Communities' COVID Revitalisation Programme and Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council.
