Approximately £900,000 has been pledged to deliver key improvements at Lisnaskea Household Recycling Centre in County Fermanagh.
Fermanagh and Omagh District Council will begin works on Wednesday 16 November.
These enhancements will include increased capacity for recyclable material and its separation, improved welfare facilities and a reconfiguration of the site to allow for split level access providing separation between the public and staff. The works will result in a reduction on the amount of waste sent to landfill and the collection and delivery frequency from the site.
Speaking about the works, Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Barry McElduff, said: "I am delighted that the works are commencing to improve the facilities at Lisnaskea Household Recycling Centre.
"The Council has a target to achieve a recycling rate of 65% by 2035. By investing in and providing appropriate facilities helps us to encourage residents to recycle more and recycle right so we can achieve this target.
"I would encourage all residents to make use of the facilities at their local Recycling Centre to help reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill which in turn helps to protect the environment."
The works are scheduled to take approximately six months and during this time, the site will be closed.
