Mid Ulster Planning Portal Moves Closer To Completion

Construction News Image
A new online planning system for Mid Ulster is progressing well ahead of going live to the public in June.

Mid Ulster District Council is delivering final preparations on the new planning portal, which will provide an end-to-end digital service for anyone submitting or responding to a planning application in Mid Ulster for the first time.

While all planning applications will continue to be received as normal, for a short period of time (Friday 13 May – Friday 03 June), applications will not be processed or subject to consultation to allow for data to be transferred from the existing planning system to the new Mid Ulster portal.

Chair of the Council's Planning Committee, Councillor Kyle Black, said: "This will be a hugely significant development for how our customers access local planning services and how we deliver those services as a local authority. The new portal will use modern technology to improve our customers' experience, whether they are submitting an application, viewing an application, including maps and the planning history of the site, or making a comment in support of or against an application. Internally, this will streamline our processes, making the service more efficient and responsive to our customers and helping to improve yet further our processing times. I would like to thank applicants for their patience and understanding during this period of data transferring as we prepare for the launch of our new Mid Ulster Planning Portal."

Councillor Sean McPeake, Deputy Chair of the Committee, added: "We will have a short period of time ahead of the launch when planning applications will not be added to the old system and normal consultations and neighbour notifications will be paused.

"However, our staff will continue to work in the background to assess applications and we will have extra resources in place to ensure applications are processed as speedily as possible when the new system is available.

"This is a milestone for Mid Ulster, building on our commitment to tailoring our planning services to meet local needs and I look forward to seeing the new system up and running in June."
