New Investment Plans have been revealed for Ballymena, Carrickfergus and Larne.
These plans, which cover 2021-2031, were developed as a direct progression of the Larne Town Centre Regeneration Masterplan, Ballymena Town Centre Masterplan, and the work undertaken by the Carrickfergus Regeneration Investment Programme Board.
Each plan announced was joined by a complementary Town Centre Strategy.
Mayor of Mid and East Antrim Councillor William McCaughey explained: "Building on the unique strengths of Ballymena, Carrickfergus and Larne, these Investment Plans and Town Centre Strategies focus on capital and revenue investment to help develop each town centre offering and the experiences provided for local citizens, businesses and visitors.
"These were developed based not only on analysis of the performance of each town centre, but on detailed feedback received from a wide range of local stakeholders – including town centre users, those investing in the town centres and those with responsibility for regenerating and developing the three towns.
"What came across very clearly in this feedback was the passion of people of Mid and East Antrim for their local town centres and their strong desire to see them thrive. Getting these Investment Plans and Town Centre Strategies to this stage is therefore very significant milestone for the Ballymena, Carrickfergus and Larne.
"I believe they truly reflect the hopes and aspirations of our local citizens and businesses and very much look forward to seeing them come to fruition in the coming years."
It is intended that the documents will act as a framework and catalyst to attract investment into the three towns, with the Council working collaboratively with DfC and its other partners to develop the respective priorities for each town.
