Irish Water deployed a team to address the issues following an electrical failure at Trim Water Treatment Plant over the weekend. During the works water supply was restricted from 8pm yesterday, Sunday 16 January, until 7am this morning, Monday 17 January. The following locations may have experienced reduced water pressure or disruption to their supply during this time including Trim, Knightsbrook, Scurlockstown, Effernock, Carberstown, Blackfriary, Crowpark, Clonbun, Rathmolyon and surrounding areas.

It can take two to three hours following restrictions for normal supply to be fully restored to all areas but it is important to continue to follow the HSE guidance on hand-washing.
Speaking about the restrictions, Michael Cunniffe, Irish Water said: "Irish Water understands the inconvenience this restriction may cause. This night-time restriction is necessary to ensure a daytime water supply is available for residents and businesses for hygiene and other essential purposes. We are continuing to work to resolve the issue at the plant so that it can return to normal operating conditions as soon as possible. We will continue to provide updates to customers as the works progress. During the day time, we are appealing to customers to help conserve water by not running taps needlessly, taking showers instead of baths and to postpone using dishwashers and washing machines where possible.
