Co Cavan Town To Secure More Reliable Water Supply

A programme of water mains improvements is set to underway in the County Cavan town of Belturbet.

These works will see 300 metres of old cast iron watermains and backyard services, prone to leakage, replaced with modern pipework along St Mary's Terrace and on Martins Row.

Irish Water is working with Cavan County Council to bring the project to life, which aims to reduce disruptions to customers from bursts and outages, and reduce the amount of clean water lost underground. 


Outlining the benefits of the works, Declan Cawley, Networks Regional Lead with Irish Water, said: "These essential works will strengthen and reinforce the water network in Belturbet. There will be an immediate positive impact to supply for customers."

In order to deliver this essential upgrade, there may be short term interruptions to the water supply in the area and traffic management will be in place.

The project is due to be completed by the end of January 2022.
