A list of the most energy efficient products which meet best-in-class standards is set to be updated thanks to market leaders.
SEAI is consulting with industry stakeholders to update the searchable list, Triple E Register. The update will ensure that equipment listed on the Register is within the most energy efficient available on the market.
Businesses use the register to identify equipment that qualifies for the Accelerated Capital Allowance tax benefit. Public bodies are required by law to use it when procuring certain types of equipment. Many SEAI grant programmes also require equipment to be listed on the register to help assure quality.
SEAI is proposing revised eligibility criteria and technology groups to ensure the Register is up-to-date, and is seeking feedback from relevant industry experts, trade associations, manufacturers, specifiers, distributors and suppliers.
Tim Stokes, Programme Manager with SEAI said: "The register helps drive increased energy efficiency, primarily in the commercial sector, supporting Ireland's efforts to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions. This consultation helps Industry ensure that the equipment on the register is best-in-class in terms of energy efficiency."
Documents will be published on SEAI's website on Wednesday, 17 November. The deadline for receipt of responses will be 5pm on Friday 03 December. Following consideration of these responses, the final eligibility criteria and any new technology groups will be published early on in 2022.
