One of the busiest roads in Northern Ireland, Bangor's A2 Donaghadee Road Roundabout is set to be greatly improved under a new scheme.
The Department for Infrastructure is investing £250,000 to resurface the key transport link and its immediate approaches.
Work will get underway on Monday 25 October and is expected to be substantially complete by Friday 19 November.
Announcing the scheme, Infrastructure Minister Nichola Mallon said: "This significant investment on one of the busiest roads in Northern Ireland will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of this key transport link. This will benefit all who use it including businesses and residents in the area. I would like to thank the travelling public and local residents in advance for their cooperation while these much needed works are completed."
A number of traffic management measures will be in place throughout to facilitate the work.
This will involve an initial phase of daytime lane closures for preparatory work for one week from Monday 25 to Friday 29 October and Thursday 04 to Friday 05 November. There will then be a series of night-time closures of the Donaghadee Road Roundabout, from Sunday 07 to Friday 12 November and from Monday 15 to Friday 19 November 2021. The closures will run from 7pm to 6am.
During these times a diversion will be in place. The traffic at Gransha Road roundabout will be diverted via: C0252 Gransha Road, A48 Cotton Road, A48 Newtownards Road, A48 Moat Street, U9204 Union Street, A2 Shore Street, A2 Warren Road, A2 Donaghadee Road and A2 Groomsport Road.
