Contract Awarded For Ireland Ultrafast Fibre Broadband Installations

Construction News Image
Ultrafast fibre broadband is to continue to be rolled out across Ireland after a new contract was awarded.

Actavo agreed a further contract with broadband provider SIRO to serve as the primary contractor for the installation of fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) services across Ireland. The three-year contract commenced in May 2021 and is being delivered by Actavo's Network and In-Home Division.

As part of the contract extension, Actavo has deployed a workforce to provide fibre-to-the-home installation services, including field engineers, civil engineering, back-office staff and sub-contractors. As a Build Contractor, Actavo has rolled out FTTH services on behalf of SIRO in several towns, including Dundalk, Cavan, Mullingar, Newbridge, Naas, Kildare Town, Athy, Navan and Arklow.

Brian Kelly, Chief Executive Officer, Actavo said: "Actavo is delighted to extend this contract with SIRO, which is a testament to the valuable and reliable service provided by our team since 2015. Our team has demonstrated both efficient project management capability and flexibility to mobilise rapidly in diverse locations. Our team has worked hard to deliver a best-in-class service on this project, and has displayed Actavo's commitment to safety, quality and a positive customer experience."

John Keaney, Chief Executive Officer, SIRO added: "Actavo has been working with SIRO since 2015 as a key partner in the design and build of an underground fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network in towns across Ireland. Actavo is also one of SIRO's partners for the delivery of nationwide customer connection and in-home activation services on behalf of the telecom retailers who are SIRO’s clients. In delivering all these services, Actavo has performed well in terms of quality, safety, delivery against programme and customer service."

In 2015, ESB and Vodafone formed a joint venture company, SIRO, to design and build an optical fibre network to homes in 50 towns across Ireland. The network has been built on existing ESB overhead and underground electrical infrastructure. SIRO delivers a 100% fibre-to-the-building broadband network to homes and business nationwide with speeds of one Gigabit per second and futureproofed to deliver higher speeds again. Actavo has been a contractor to SIRO for this project since 2015, delivering a co-branded solution, with all vehicles, Service Engineer uniforms, identification cards and documentation carrying both the SIRO and Actavo brands.
