Construction News Image
A key route in Banbridge town centre is set to close next month for a programme of construction work.

The Department for Infrastructure is leading a £400,000 road realignment and traffic signals scheme at the Scarva Street / Downshire Place / Commercial Road junction.

Work will begin on Monday 11 October and is expected to be complete by the end of February 2022.

These works are being delivered ahead of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council's proposed public realm scheme for Banbridge.

Due to the nature of the scheme, it will be necessary to operate a number of traffic management measures for the duration of the works. These measures will include one way closures mainly operating from Monday to Friday between the hours of 9.30am to 4.30pm as well as road closures at various times.

During these times a diversion will be in place as detailed below:

• Scarva Street Eastbound: Reilly Street or Downshire Place, Huntly Road, Church Square, Bridge Street

• Scarva Street Westbound: Bridge Street or Downshire Place, Huntly Road, Reilly Street

• Commercial Road: Linenhall Street/Ballygowan Road, Edenderry Road

• Downshire Place: Huntly Road, Reilly Street.

Road users have been asked to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions and to drive with care when travelling through, or in the vicinity, of the works.
