Work has been completed to deliver more inclusive play park equipment in County Fermanagh.
Two inclusive nest swings were recently installed at Fermanagh Lakeland Forum and Killyvilly Play Parks as part of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council's commitment to making its active recreation sites as inclusive as possible.
Further work will also see basket nest swings installed at play areas at Dromore Village Park and at Todd's Field, Lammy, Omagh.
Speaking about the work, the Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Erroll Thompson said: "Fermanagh and Omagh District Council is committed to working in partnership with others to improve the quality of services provided to all the people of the district. A key focus of the Council's Active Together Strategy is to provide accessible and inclusive opportunities for all to participate in physical and other leisure activities and the installation of the basket swings is evidence of our commitment to the delivery of this key objective.
"We are grateful for the financial support from the Department which enabled the Council to deliver on this project. I am confident that the nest swings will be an excellent addition to the play parks at Fermanagh Lakeland Forum and Killyvilly."
Approximately £15,000 is being invested in the work, funded by the Department for Communities through its Access and Inclusion programme. The programme provides grant aid through Councils and the NI Museums Council to help promote a more inclusive society by improving accessibility at arts, cultural and active recreation venues for people with disabilities.
Communities Minister, Deirdre Hargey added: "My Department's Access and Inclusion Programme is designed to help improve accessibility for people with disabilities who often have limited opportunities to participate in activities that many of us take for granted.
"The addition of the nest swings at the Lakeland Forum and Killyvilly Play Parks will help to open up these facilities to those with disabilities, providing them with the opportunity to increase their participation in active outdoor play."
