Clanmil Housing Association has announced the successor to its outgoing CEO Clare McCarty.

Carol McTaggart will take on the role with the leading Northern Ireland housing association when Clare retires later this year after 37 years of service. Since joining the company 30 years ago, Carol has climbed the company ladder, succeeding as a development lead before being named as Group Director of Development. In this latest role, she has led an ambitious development programme that has seen the number of homes Clanmil provides grow from 945 to more than 5,500.

Announcing the new appointment, Paul Fiddaman, Chair of the Clanmil Housing Group, said: "After a robust recruitment process, involving a large number of highly qualified candidates, the Board is confident that Carol is the perfect successor to carry on Clare's brilliant work. Her drive, passion and enthusiasm together with a detailed understanding of the housing sector and her intimate knowledge of Clanmil itself, make Carol the ideal person to take Clanmil forward.

"I wish Carol every success in her new role."

Succeeding Clare McCarty, Carol will become responsible for delivering the Group's ambitious five-year strategy which includes providing a further 1,400 much needed high-quality homes and services that make a difference for people and communities.

Carol, who has worked alongside Clare for a number of years, has passed on the lead to Clare who she believes will bring "great energy, insight, knowledge and resilience" to the role.

Incoming Clanmil Chief Executive Carol McTaggart added: "Clanmil is committed to delivering high quality homes that enrich lives. Homes are more than just a shelter. The homes we live in play an important role in shaping who we are.

"Having worked at Clanmil for more than three decades I know it is a fantastic organisation that is making a real difference in people's lives and that is a credit to the people I have the privilege of working alongside.

"I have seen the drive and determination that Clare has brought to the role and I am committed to working with colleagues, customers and partners to deliver good quality homes and services as we set out on our new five year strategic direction."
