The partnership will see the two organisations work closely to advance a more sustainable built environment. In particular, BAM Ireland will collaborate with the IGBC to decarbonise Ireland's building stock, promote circularity in the industry and enhance biodiversity.
Theo Cullinane CEO at BAM Ireland said: "To date, the construction industry has had significant environmental impacts, but many opportunities exist to reduce them. At BAM we are working towards having a net positive impact on climate change, material resources and people by 2050. We are very excited about this new partnership with the Irish Green Building Council and we look forward to working with them and fellow members to deliver a fully decarbonised, resource efficient built environment."

Pat Barry CEO at the Irish Green Building Council added: "BAM have very high environmental ambitions. We believe that working together with them as one of the largest contractors in Ireland can push forward the agenda on whole life carbon and circularity in the construction sector. Ireland needs to radically change the way it builds over the next 10 years and collaboration is essential to this transition."
The IGBC is currently running a campaign to decarbonise Ireland’s built environment across its full life cycle. To date, legislation and policy focus have been on tackling operational carbon.
