Call For Action To Reduce Waiting Times Under Better Energy Warmer Homes Scheme

Construction News Image
Fianna Fail is calling for "urgent action now" to help reduce the long waiting times for the surveying and the commencement of works under the Better Energy Warmer Homes Scheme.

TD for Cork North West, Aindrias Moynihan, commented: "I have once again raised this pressing issue in the Dáil this week, and we simply need urgent action on it now. To leave vulnerable households and persons on such long waiting lists places them in a precarious position and is unacceptable.

"From speaking to constituents, it is quite clear that the waiting time for some is as long as 24 months, despite being told by the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications that the allocation of a surveyor should be expected within 8 months."

Deputy Moynihan added: "Both the Minister and the Sustainable Energy Authority Of Ireland (SEAI) need to take action now and I am calling on them to make this issue a priority and clear the backlog so that these much-needed works can begin for the people left waiting."
