Over €68,000 funding has been allocated to Crosshaven for village enhancement works.
Cork County Council's Village Enhancement Scheme aims at improving the infrastructure, aesthetics, and facilities in Cork County villages and provides funding support for rural settlements.
The funding will be used to support the provision of a new Tourist Information kiosk for Crosshaven, the installation of a sculpture that has been commissioned for the village approach and significant improvement works to an existing amenity space at 'The Point'. The improvement works will provide for improved accessibility as well as new seating and picnic benches with improved landscaping. Projects funded have been agreed through a process of consultation between Cork County Council, local community stakeholders and elected members.
The funding will be combined with other funding measures secured for Crosshaven in 2020, including Town and Village Funding from the Department of Rural and Community Development, to facilitate amenity improvements for Crosshaven village and will help to create a more welcoming environment for residents and visitors alike.
Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr Mary Linehan Foley, said: "Crosshaven's proximity to the largest town in Cork County Council’s Local Authority Area, Carrigaline, as well as it’s idyllic location in Cork harbour, with so many wonderful heritage and tourism sites makes it an area that is primed for investment and growth. Supporting the community here will have long lasting and wide reaching positive impacts not only for Crosshaven, but for surrounding villages too."
