Construction News Image
Construction work has started on 14 new homes in west Belfast.

Radius Housing is investing £2.1 million in the project which is taking place in the Twinbrook area.

The investment in the Summerhill area is part of Radius' work to build 400 new social and affordable homes across Northern Ireland annually.

Construction of the new two and three bedroom homes is being carried out by Derryleckagh Contracts and the new houses are due to be completed by April 2022. Designed primarily for families, these are the latest new homes being constructed by Radius Housing in the west Belfast area. Other developments include 244 new homes at Blacks Gate (the former Visteon site) and 29 new homes in Lagmore.

Radius Housing Chief Executive, John McLean, said: "We are delighted that construction of these new homes is underway. At Radius our aim is to provide high quality homes, and these new properties are being built to exceptionally high standards and specifications. Radius remain committed to addressing the challenging housing need in the West Belfast area and schemes such as Blacks Gate, and this new development in Twinbrook forms part of our wider goal of building 400 new homes across the province every year.

"As a leading developer we are supporting the construction sector and construction jobs, as well as supporting apprenticeships on our development sites and wider community regeneration. House building will be key to the economic recovery, and while Covid-19 has impacted every sector, with clear and safe working practices on our projects we are ensuring that our development projects are progressing."
