Work Commences To Replace Old Watermains In Listowel

Work has started to replace old watermains in Listowel, Kerry.

The work is taking place on Main Street and Bridge Street in to provide a more reliable water supply and tackle high levels of leakage.

The old, problematic asbestos pipes are being decommissioned and replaced. All existing services are being transferred to a new plastic watermain. Works will commence on Monday and are expected to be completed in early December. The works are taking place from the junction of The Square and Main Street along Bridge Road to the junction of Bridge Road and The Garden of Europe.


The works will involve laying new water service connections from the public water main in the road to customer'’ property boundaries and connecting it to the customers’ water supply. Where the existing service connections on the public side are lead, these will be replaced as part of this improvement work.

The works will be carried out by Kerry County Council on behalf of Irish Water.
