Fine Gael Announces New Spokesperson On Climate Change

Fine Gael TD Alan Farrell has been appointed as the party's spokesperson on Climate Action.

Deputy Farrell, who is based in Dublin Fingal, said: "It is a great honour to be appointed as the Climate Action Spokesperson for Fine Gael. Climate Change is the biggest challenge our generation and subsequent generations will have to overcome.

"I am excited to contribute to Ireland’s fight against climate change and I look forward to playing a role in developing positive policies and initiatives that will benefit people all over Ireland.

"We are have made positive steps in recent years in this field and a Climate Action Bill is being prepared for the Dail. We must be ambitious in our targets and ensure that we do our best to meet them.

"Climate change is a whole of society problem. It will require us to act as a unified society and share the burden of the task ahead of us, having seen how the Irish people have come together during the Covid-19 pandemic, I believe that we can rise to this challenge as well.

"We owe our children and future generations of Irish people, a country and a world that is habitable and sustainable. By acting boldly and ambitiously, we turn the tide on climate change and become a world leader in climate issues."
