Sllgo County Council Receives Funding For Greenway Projects

Sligo County Council has been allocated €800,000 for Greenway projects.

The council submitted a funding application under the Carbon Tax Fund 2020 for the Charlestown / Bellaghy to Collooney Greenway Project.

Minister Eamonn Ryan, T.D. Minister for Climate Change, Communications Networks and Transport, announced allocations under the fund totalling €4.5m to support feasibility, planning and design work for 26 Greenway Projects countrywide.

A provisional allocation of €300,000 has been secured by Sligo County Council towards preliminary design and environmental evaluation costs for the Charlestown / Bellaghy to Collooney Greenway Project. Leitrim County Council has also been provisionally awarded €500,000 for the Sligo Leitrim Northern Counties Railway (SLNCR) Greenway project from Sligo to Blacklion, which will enable that project to be brought through the required statutory process.
