Infrastructure Minister Nichola Mallon MLA confirmed she will review the operation of this legislation.
This decision has been met with support, with SDLP representative Eugene Reid welcoming the "common sense approach".
The North Antrim councillor said: "There are many positive aspects of this legislation, such as providing a framework to ensure special events can be held on roads safely and legally.

"However, there are a number of aspects of the legislation which have caused concerns and some difficulty to charities, running clubs and other groups doing vital work in our community.
"I warmly welcome that Minister Mallon has confirmed she is aware of the concerns around the legislation, which was introduced before her time in office, and has committed to reviewing the legislation. This common sense approach is very welcome.
"The department confirmed that the review will commence in the coming months where the SDLP Minister for Infrastructure is seeking views and asks stakeholders to engage with the review. I encourage all interested groups, many of who I have worked with since my election, to take part in the review."
