A £255,000 programme of public realm works has got underway in L'Derry's Waterside.
This scheme will see the Bonds Hill area transformed with upgraded footways, carriageway and lighting.
Two heritage lighting columns will be refurbished as part of the upgrade to the lighting. A new cycle lane and pedestrian crossing points along Bonds Hill will also provide a quality travel link between the main commercial and residential areas of the Waterside and the new Multi Modal Hub.
Work began at the end of January and will run until the end of March 2020.
The Department for Communities is supporting the scheme with funding, while the Department for Infrastructure will deliver the works.
Minister for Communities, Deirdre Hargey said: "Public realm investment such as this can make such a difference to the community. The improvements will give people who live and work in the area a sense of pride. It will also improve their quality of life by providing a new cycle and pedestrian link to improve connectivity to and from the new Multi Modal Hub.
"This investment is about bringing this area up to the same standard as some of the recently completed works at the Ebrington Greenway. I am sure it will be welcomed by the local community."
Minister for Infrastructure, Nichola Mallon added: "I am committed to delivering sustainable infrastructure that supports economic well-being and improved well-being for all. This includes the development of active and sustainable travel throughout Northern Ireland. Connecting communities and encouraging more active travel, will in turn help to create a cleaner environment and tackle the impact of climate change."
