Newry-based Murdock Builder's Merchants has opened a new store in Finglas, bringing its total to 15 branches nationwide.
The new branch in north Dublin is part of a wider €4.5million investment programme by the Murdock group and includes plans for a fifth outlet in the Greater Dublin Area which will open in Bray in 2020.
Future plans will also see Murdock's existing branch in Ballymount be extended in 2020, enabling it to increase its range of specialist building materials.
In addition to its 14 branches, the company operates two timber sites which manufacture machined timber and roof trusses. It also has a specialist civils division with branches in Kilbarrack, Dublin and in Belfast.
Barry Thornton, Managing Director for Murdock (ROI) said: "Growth in the construction sector, particularly in housing development, continues to accelerate which is a very positive sign for the economy. With a minimum of 30,000 new homes needed each year for the foreseeable future, we anticipate growing demand for the products and specialist services we provide. Our expansion has been planned to meet this need.
"At heart we are a family-owned business which understands the market and focuses on delivering exceptional service, expertise and quality. We've been here throughout the busts as well as the booms and as such, have earned the trust and loyalty of our customers."
Group Chief Executive Ann Morgan added: "Like all cross-border businesses we face uncertainty in relation to Brexit. However, we have worked hard to establish our reputation on an Ireland-wide basis and remain focused on offering a local service to our customers – irrespective of their size or scope.
"Our investment in the greater Dublin market is a pivotal part of our ongoing expansion plans and we look forward to supporting our customers as momentum builds across Ireland's construction sector."
