New Park To Be Developed In Kilkenny

A project has been launched to deliver a new park in the Ferrybank suburb of County Kilkenny.

Construction has begun on the scheme, which will see a much needed central amenity facility built for Ferrybank, incorporating a children's playground, walking route, teenager meeting point, and playing pitch.

A sod-turning ceremony took place at the site to mark the beginning of construction. Those in attendance included Minister of State for Local Government and Electoral Reform, Mr John Paul Phelan TD, and, Cathaoirleach of Kilkenny County Council, Councillor Peter Cleere.


The park is being jointly funded by the Department of Housing, Planning, and Local Government (50%), Kilkenny County Council (25%), and Waterford City and County Council (25%). The project represents a practical manifestation of the two Local Authorities in the area working together for the benefit of Ferrybank, and the wider Waterford City area.

Contractor Tom Beckett is delivering the project.
