Sewerage Construction Works To Resume On Belfast Roads

Sewerage construction works are to resume shortly on a number of roads in Belfast.

The £5 million NI Water project involves infrastructure improvements to the pipes and sewers around Ormeau Avenue, Dublin Road, Bruce Street, Sandy Row and sections of the lower Ormeau Road.

A four-week programme of pipeline installation work will commence on the Dublin Road between Ventry Lane and Pakenham Street on 11 January, with similar work also scheduled for Ormeau Avenue between Adelaide Street and Bedford Street.


Further work to build a new storm sewer on Marcus Ward Street will also begin in mid-January, and is expected to take four weeks to complete.

The entire project will help reduce the risk of out of sewer flooding in the area and improve the water quality in the Blackstaff Culvert and River Lagan. Environmental pollution will also be reduced.
