Sligo Council Awarded Record-Breaking National Roads Allocation

Sligo County Council has been awarded a record-breaking National Roads allocation for 2019.

Announced by Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), the €37 million fund is a €20m increase from the local authority's previous largest annual allocation.

The Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council, Councillor Martin Baker welcomed the announcement: "This major investment in our national roads network is hugely significant in the context of our designation as a centre for economic growth, and it will move forward a number of important projects for County Sligo."

The National Roads funding will help support a number of projects, with the majority of the funds (€23m) pledged to the N4 Collooney to Castlebaldwin Road Development Project.

Other projects which secured funding include the N4/N15 Urban Improvement, N16 Lugatober to Gortnagrelly, as well as pavement improvements on the N15, N16, N17 and N59.
