Newry Storm Sewer Project Delivered Ahead Of Schedule

A new storm sewer has been delivered on New Street/Canal Street, Newry, two weeks ahead of schedule.

The NI Water project was expected to take six weeks, but was completed in only four weeks due to extended working hours.

The scheme involved laying approximately 165m of storm sewer and associated manholes on New Street and Canal Street to serve a new social housing development at Ogle House.


The removal of storm water from the existing combined sewer has also increased the capacity of the existing sewers, reducing the likelihood of out-of-sewer flooding and environmental pollution in the future.

Conwell Contracts Ltd and Atkins carried out the project on behalf of NI Water.
