Irish renewable energy company Amarenco has won a 32MW French Regulatory buildings tender, securing its position as the leading rooftop solar company in France.
The organisation is now officially the number one company in the highly competitive 100kW-8MW rooftop solar segment.
Amarenco has approximately 400MW of large solar rooftop in development in France and French Territories and will enter these developments into auctions.
Amarenco's rooftop projects are distributed across two development platforms, one of which was established in partnership with Total Solar. The company will unlock more than €120 million of investment to undertake these projects.
John Mullins, CEO, Amarenco Solar said: "We are very pleased to be announced as the number one operator in rooftop solar in the French market. This reaffirms our international footprint in Europe and clearly the work we have undertaken in France, where we are recognised as a credible and significant contributor to that nation's demand for renewable energy. The team based in France has been working in close partnership with agricultural landowners, local authorities and businesses. We strive to undertake innovative, collaborative and participative approaches that meet environmental requirements, which also appealed to local farmers and businesses.
"We lead the way for tenders in this category. Amarenco has been awarded a total capacity of more than 100MW across the five consecutive calls, far ahead of Urbasolar (81MW) and Technique Solaire (68MW)."
The company has over 80 employees divided between France and Ireland, and a French asset fleet of 1,300 PV plants managed from its regional headquarters in south-west France. Amarenco currently has a development portfolio close to 1GW, which are comprised of projects located across Ireland and France. Earlier in 2018, Amarenco Solar was awarded the Best Irish Company in France, at the annual France Ireland Business Awards.
Amarenco intends to commence construction in Ireland in late 2019.
