Energy Detectives Programme Shortlisted For Industry Accolade

An initiative which teaches school children important lessons on energy efficiency has been nominated for an accolade in the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Awards.

The Energy Detectives programme, developed by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council and Mid and East Antrim Borough Council in conjunction with the Public Health Agency, aims to provide practical learning around energy use in the home and encourages pupils to uncover 'energy thieves' through fun-filled activities.


The scheme has now been shortlisted for Best Environmental Health Project at the Awards, which will take place in London on 28 November.

Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Cllr Brenda Chivers, said: "I took part in an Energy Detectives session myself earlier this year and it was fantastic to see our young people benefiting from such an inventive programme. By engaging with them from an early age we can make a real differences to our local communities by helping them to save money and promoting overall health and well-being.

"I would like to congratulate everyone involved in the development of Energy Detectives and I am delighted to see their hard work and enthusiasm recognised in this way."
