The towns currently have either substandard or no wastewater treatment and are discharging untreated or partially treated wastewater into the environment.

The project will ensure that there is an adequate treatment of wastewater, as well as protecting human health and safeguarding the environment.
Planning, design and construction is expected to take approximately three to four years and will be undertaken between 2018 and 2021.
Third party surveys and landowner engagement have commenced.
A public information event will take place on the project once sufficient data is collected from the surveys and the optimum solution is confirmed.
The planning application will be submitted to the Local Authority in 2019.
