FORRME has completed a five-month redevelopment of a Lidl store in Magherafelt, Co L'Derry.
The existing Lidl store was demolished and replaced with a brand new 2,068m2 space. It now includes a range of purpose-built areas for staff and customers to enjoy, including a sizeable sales area, warehouse/storage and state of the art staff facilities including: showers, a canteen, WC's as well as an office and meeting rooms.
FORRME also designed and executed dry stack retaining walls, drainage, surfacing (paving and bitmac), trolley bays, cycle hoops fencing and landscaping.
Conor Anderson, Contracts Manager at FORRME, said: "Public interface was a key consideration for this project given the close proximity of the site to existing commercial premises and 3 local schools. It was crucial that we minimised disruption to the surrounding community through close liaison and constant communication as the project unfolded."
He added: "As with any store redevelopment, it was vital that the project minimised downtimes and the associated loss of sales for Lidl. To ensure the project was complete on time and within budget, careful consideration was given to risk issues such as: the weather; material ordering and delivery; subcontractor availability, co-ordination and involvement as well as peak traffic flow and construction industry holidays.
"FORRME was delighted to work with Lidl on this project in delivering a striking and modern store and an enhanced shopping experience for the wider community to enjoy for decades to come."
Commenting on the success of the project Scott Nelson, Project Manager at Lidl, said: "Working on a very tight programme FORRME committed to meet all the key milestones and delivered a very successful project. Both customers and staff are delighted with our new store and we are looking forward to working with FORRME again on future projects."
