Speaking at the launch of a mobile billboard to mark Minister Eoghan Murphy's first year in office, he said: "Under Minister Murphy the housing crisis is getting worse. The central problem is that the Governments policy is not working. It's over reliance on the private rental sector and under-investment in social and affordable housing is the problem."

Deputy Ó Broin continued and pointed at the government’s priorities as a major problem.
"Unless we see a significant increase in capital funding, more ambitious local authority targets for delivery of social and affordable housing and emergency measures to stem the flow of adults and children into homelessness then the crisis will continue to get worse."
He also criticised Minister Murphy for his failure to deliver a review of Rebuilding Ireland and a vacant homes strategy.
"By every single indicator the housing and homeless crisis is getting worse. Homelessness is up. Child homelessness is up. Pensioner homelessness is up. House prices and rents continue to rise. Social housing delivery is glacial. Zero affordable homes have been delivered by Government. The rent pressure zones are not working. The Minister can't even tell us how many new homes were built since he came to office," he concluded.
